I Left Everything to Move to Africa… Even My Marriage

What would you sacrifice to follow your calling?
In this episode of the Diaspora Transition, we meet Akhenaton from Trinidad and Tobago who made one of the most difficult decisions of his life — leaving everything behind to move to The Gambia.

Just months after getting married to a woman from the Dominican Republic, Akhenaton made the life-changing decision to relocate to Africa. His wife wasn’t prepared for the move, and the marriage ended soon after.

Two years later, he is building a new life, pursuing business opportunities, and integrating into Gambian society.

In this episode, Akhenaton gives us a tour of his apartment, shares why he chose The Gambia over other African countries like Ghana and Cameroon, and explains how the cost of living and community culture have transformed his life.

He also shares the powerful cultural differences he discovered after relocating — from the sense of community to the slower, more peaceful way of life.
This is a story about sacrifice, faith, and the courage to build something new on the African continent. What will you do if you are in his shoes? Comment down below and jump right into the video and find out more…
